Stephen P. Garoutte is an associate general counsel in the Office of the General Counsel and is based in the firm’s New York office. He advises the firm, its lawyers and its personnel on legal and risk management issues, such as ethics, firm policies, compliance and litigation. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, he served in conflicts, compliance and professional responsibility roles at another large international law firm for more than 12 years. 

Stephen received his B.A. degree in History from the University of Notre Dame and his juris doctorate degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. 

Stephen is a member of the State Bar of Illinois.
