Agencies Propose Rule to Implement GENIUS Act Customer Identification Program Requirement

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), together with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the National Credit Union Administration, issued a joint proposed rule to implement provisions of the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act (GENIUS Act).

The Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a joint request for public comment on potential opportunities to harmonize, modernize and streamline data reporting requirements in their regulation of the security-based swap and swap markets, respectively.

 

SEC and CFTC Seek Public Comment to Further Clarify and Harmonize Derivatives Product Definitions

The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a joint request for public comment on potential opportunities to further update, clarify and harmonize certain derivatives product definitions and interpretive issues.

Dept. of Education Announces Student Loan Interest Rate Reduction

The U.S. Department of Education announced that federal student loan borrowers enrolled in auto pay will be eligible for a 1% interest rate reduction beginning July 1.

Bank of England Prudential Regulation Authority

Monetary Policy Committee — Bank Rate Maintained at 3.75%

June 18, 2026

At its meeting ending on June 17, the Monetary Policy Committee voted by a majority of 7–2 to maintain the Bank Rate at 3.75%. Two members voted to increase Bank Rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4%.
