Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen, Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome H. Powell, and FDIC Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg released a joint statement on actions taken to protect the U.S. economy by strengthening public confidence in the nation's banking system.

The Federal Reserve Board announced it will make available additional funding to eligible depository institutions to help assure banks have the ability to meet the needs of all their depositors. This action will bolster the capacity of the banking system to safeguard deposits and ensure the ongoing provision of money and credit to the economy.
Superintendent Adrienne A. Harris Announces New York Department of Financial Services Takes Possession of Signature Bank

Superintendent Adrienne A. Harris announced that the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) has taken possession of Signature Bank, pursuant to Section 606 of New York Banking Law, in order to protect depositors. The NYDFS DFS immediately appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as receiver of the bank.
FDIC Establishes Signature Bridge Bank, N.A., as Successor to Signature Bank, New York, NY

Signature Bank was closed by the New York State Department of Financial Services, which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as receiver. In that connection, the FDIC transferred all the deposits and substantially all of the assets of Signature Bank to Signature Bridge Bank, N.A., a full-service bank that will be operated by the FDIC as it markets the institution to potential bidders.
FDIC Issues FAQs for Silicon Valley Bank
Notwithstanding that Depositors will be made whole, the FDIC issued a FAQ addressing the receivership of Silicon Valley Bank, addressing various operating issues at the bridge bank established to resolve the bank.
