Congressional Watchdog Releases Initial Report on CFPB Reorganization

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released its initial report on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) “Status of Reorganization Efforts.” The report was written in response to a request by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), the ranking member of the committee, as well as Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA).

Labor Market Expectations Improve Slightly; Short-Term Inflation Expectations Decline

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Center for Microeconomic Data released the January 2026 Survey of Consumer Expectations, which shows that households’ inflation expectations remained unchanged at the medium- and longer-term horizons and declined at the short-term horizon.
