Paul Hastings Represents InterGen in $3.4 Billion Debt Recapitalization

Washington, D.C. (October 22, 2007) – Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that the firm advised InterGen, a leading global power generation company, in raising $3.4 billion in debt and revolving credit facilities to refinance its debt at the parent company level and repay project level debt associated with certain of InterGen’s power plants in the United Kingdom and Mexico. The financing, which closed on July 31, 2007, consists of a $1.875 billion issuance of InterGen’s senior secured bonds in dollars, euros and pounds sterling and $1.52 billion in senior secured term loans and multi-currency revolving credit facilities.

Washington, D.C. finance partner Ellis Butler led the international Paul Hastings team, which included partners Michael Chernick, Alexander Lee, Philip Marzetti, Jeff Schroeder and William Schwitter, and associates Yumiko Abe, Raquel Bierzwinsky, Kirk Lovric, David Marshall, Jason Miller, Michael Moscarello, Christian Peterson, Alishia Sullivan and Eduardo Travesi.

Commenting on the deal, Ellis Butler said, “This milestone refinancing for InterGen, with its diverse portfolio of projects and its global footprint, demanded a similarly diverse and global team from Paul Hastings, drawing equally on the international resources of our Global Projects Group and on our capital markets and leveraged finance capabilities. We were proud to be part of the InterGen team that brought this deal to a successful conclusion in the face of increasingly volatile debt markets this summer.”
