Paul Hastings Scores Top Rankings in LMG Life Sciences for 2016

November 30, 2016

New York, NY – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm’s Life Sciences Patent Litigation practice earned top honors in the 2016 edition of LMG Life Sciences, with the firm ranked as “Highly Recommended” in the General Patent Litigation and Hatch-Waxman Patent Litigation (Branded) categories. LMG Life Sciences also observed Paul Hastings’ strength in post-grant patent office proceedings. The publication reported one competitor as commenting, “They are going gangbuster.”

In addition to the firm’s “Highly Recommended” rankings, six partners were recognized as 2016 “Life Sciences Stars” for their outstanding work in life sciences, including Eric Dittmann, Gerald Flattmann, Gary Giampetruzzi, Naveen Modi, Joseph O’Malley, and Bruce Wexler.

Beyond life sciences patent litigation, the firm was recognized for its strength in high profile M&A and general corporate pharmaceutical work and government investigations and compliance. LMG Life Sciences reported the firm’s addition of David Shine, chair of the New York Mergers and Acquisitions practice, who handles high-profile M&A and general corporate pharmaceutical work, and Gary Giampetruzzi, vice-chair of the Life Sciences Industry Practice Group and a former Head of Government Investigations at Pfizer.  Research for the annual publication is based on nearly 1,000 interviews and surveys, as well as a review of public information and feedback from clients.

Earlier this year, LMG Life Sciences honored the firm with four Life Sciences Awards, including two Hatch-Waxman Impact Cases of the Year, General Patent Litigator of the Year – New York (Bruce Wexler), and Post Grant Proceedings Attorney of the Year (Naveen Modi).

These LMG recognitions follow a steady stream of awards for the Intellectual Property practice. Most recently, Joseph O’Malley was named an Intellectual Property MVP by Law360. Additional accolades include Bruce Wexler being named American Lawyer’s Transatlantic Lawyer of the Year: Intellectual Property, and Managing IP naming Naveen Modi Outstanding IP Litigator of the Year – PTAB in its 2016 North America Awards.

Managing IP also recognized Paul Hastings’ IP practice in its 2016 IP Stars rankings for its work across numerous categories, which included: Bio/life sciences, Patent contentious, and PTAB litigation (USPTO). Intellectual Asset Management has also highlighted Paul Hastings' IP practice and lawyers in its IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals 2016.
