Paul Hastings Adds Elite Partner to High Yield Practice in London

August 02, 2026

Continuing to strategically expand its market-leading global finance platform and London corporate practice, Paul Hastings LLP today announced that Brad Weyland, a leader in high-yield transactions, has joined the firm as a partner.

Chambers-ranked, Weyland focuses on advising investment banks, private credit providers and corporates on capital markets transactions, including high-yield bonds, bridge loans and term loans. He also advises issuers and financial institutions in connection with restructurings and liability management matters, as well as indenture interpretation, disclosure, and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting matters. Weyland joins from A&O Shearman and will reunite with partners with whom he previously practiced.

“The addition of Brad further strengthens our market-leading London and global finance platform and reflects our continued investment in premier talent,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “His arrival adds meaningful depth to our London corporate team and further elevates the firm’s position as a destination practice for the most complex finance transactions across the entire capital structure, including in high-yield, bridge and Term Loan B financings.”

Weyland’s addition builds out the firm’s high yield capabilities in London and complements its Band 1 practice in the United States. It also follows other recent strategic additions to the firm’s powerhouse global finance platform, including a top-ranked, 15-lawyer leveraged finance group from Latham, a premier finance duo from Weil in London and elite teams in offices across the United States. His clients include Barclays, BNP PARIBAS, BofA Securities, Citigroup, Crédit Agricole CIB, Deutsche Bank, DNB Carnegie, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, KKR, Morgan Stanley, Nomura and VEON. Weyland also serves as co-vice chair of the High Yield Board of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).

Continuing a period of expansion in London, including the strengthening of the firm’s PE and M&A platform with the addition of Mark Zerdin from Slaughters and Ferish Patel from Cooley, Weyland follows recent partner additions across a range of practices: Leon Stephenson and Jennifer Passagne (Fund Finance), a four-partner team led by Lyndsey Laverack and Jade Williams-Adedeji (Private Equity and Real Estate), Jenny Doak, Alicia Osei and Catherine Richardson (Tax); Sally Evans (Antitrust); Thomas Picton (Structured Credit); David Richardson (Investment Funds); and Stephen Diosi (Employee Benefits and Incentives).

“Paul Hastings has built a premier global finance platform with exceptional practitioners, many of whom I have worked with in the past, across leveraged finance, private credit and capital markets,” said Weyland. “I'm delighted to be reuniting with my former colleagues, and I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued expansion in London and internationally and collaborating with colleagues across its market-leading finance platform.”

In H1 2026 Paul Hastings’ Chambers Band 1-ranked Global Finance practice was top ranked across six Bloomberg lead lender’s counsel league tables, including three No.1 spots.  In 2025, the practice scored 15 No. 1 year-end rankings and more than 30 top five rankings from the leading league tables. The group closed more than 500 debt financing and preferred equity transactions, totalling over $260 billion in aggregate financing.

Paul Hastings has emerged as the world’s leading legal adviser for leveraged finance, fund finance and private credit, representing virtually every top investment bank and direct lender, including Apollo, Atlas, Bank of America, Blackstone, Brookfield, Deutsche Bank, Franklin Templeton, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, KKR, Morgan Stanley, Nuveen, PIMCO and Wells Fargo, among others.
