CENTURY CITY, Calif. (JUNE 1, 2023) – Paul Hastings LLP announced today that leading entertainment and media lawyer Kenneth T. Deutsch has joined the firm as a partner and global co-chair of its premier entertainment and media practice. The Chambers Band 1-ranked Deutsch joins the firm’s Band 1-ranked practice from Latham & Watkins LLP, where he was global co-chair of that firm’s entertainment, sports, and media group.   

The move brings together Deutsch’s stellar practice and the elite Chambers-ranked Paul Hastings team, fortifying a powerhouse entertainment and media practice capable of handling clients’ most challenging and complex transactions.

Based in Century City, Deutsch is a leader in the field who represents a broad array of entertainment and media companies in content production, financing and distribution transactions, equity and debt raises, strategic joint ventures, and other commercial and corporate arrangements. He also represents financial institutions and investment funds in evaluating and executing on acquisition and investment opportunities.

Deutsch’s recent matters include advising Macro Media in its $90 million equity raise led by Blackrock Alternatives; Stampede Entertainment in forming and capitalizing Hidden Pigeon Company with Redbird Capital Partners and children’s book author Mo Willems; New Republic Pictures in a multi-picture financing deal with Paramount Pictures to provide co-financing for a slate of theatrical films, including the recent blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick and the upcoming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning; and a variety of entertainment, real estate, employment, trademark, and corporate matters for producer/actor/creator Jon Favreau and his related companies.

In addition to his Chambers Band 1 ranking, Deutsch has been called a “Hollywood Heavyweight” by The American Lawyer and he recently was named to The Hollywood Reporter’s “Power Lawyers 2023: Hollywood’s Top 100 Attorneys” list, joining a group of five Paul Hastings lawyers also listed.  

Deutsch is the latest elite partner to join the firm in California and the second this week in Century City, following complex and high-stakes litigator Susan Leader, who joined Tuesday from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Prominent IP litigator Rudy Kim joined the firm’s Palo Alto office last month.
