March 02, 2021

Hong Kong – Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that corporate lawyer Jean Yu has joined the firm’s Securities and Capital Markets practice as a partner in Hong Kong. Her arrival continues the strong growth of the firm’s global Securities and Capital Markets practice, following recent partner additions in Frankfurt, Seoul and Washington, D.C.

“Given the increasing popularity of domestic listings and the restored vigor of the markets in Asia, clients across the region are turning to us to help them access the capital markets and complete complex transactions,” said Seth Zachary, Chairman of Paul Hastings. “With her substantial experience advising on Hong Kong IPOs and privatization matters, as well as serving Chinese clients across a broad spectrum of industries, Jean is a valuable addition to our global Capital Markets team.”

“Paul Hastings is among only a handful of international firms in Asia with a full range of capital markets and financing expertise, augmented by competitive cross-practice service capabilities,” said Ms. Yu. “I am thrilled to join the talented professionals in the Hong Kong office and I look forward to the numerous opportunities in which we can help our clients pursue new paths to growth.”

Ms. Yu focuses her practice on capital market offerings, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and other general corporate matters. She has extensive experience advising on H-share and red-chip companies’ successful listings in Hong Kong, as well as compliance matters and mergers and acquisitions of listed companies.

The global Securities and Capital Markets practice at Paul Hastings has advised on several landmark transactions in recent years, including China Bohai Bank’s US$1.77 billion Hong Kong IPO; US$5.5 billion of high-yield notes issued in connection with Altice USA, Inc.’s combination of Suddenlink and Optimum; Minera Mexico’s US$1 billion senior notes offering; representing Barclays, BBVA and other banks in Prime Health Services’ debut US$700 million offering of senior secured notes; representing Jefferies, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America in The Providence Service Corporation’s debut US$500 million notes offering to finance the acquisition of the Simplura Group; representing Citigroup and other banks in Blackstone Mortgage Trust’s follow-on public offering of class A common stock; and Itiquira Acquisition Corp.’s $230 million IPO.
