Paul Hastings Further Strengthens Premier Private Equity Platform in New York

In a move that further enhances the firm’s premier global private equity and broader M&A and investment funds platforms, Paul Hastings LLP announced today that Brian C. Miner has joined the firm as partner based in New York.
“Brian’s experience in traditional upper middle market buyout and asset manager M&A, including GP stakes deals, is highly synergistic with our platform and strategic vision,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “His arrival further expands our private equity and M&A offerings in New York, which will continue to be a foundation of our PE and M&A capabilities as we support clients on their most significant and complex transactions and continue to gain market share.”
Joining from Dechert, Miner advises private equity firms on an array of domestic and international transactions. He works across a range of sectors, including asset management, insurance, life sciences and healthcare, and energy and manufacturing. Miner’s experience extends to counseling on acquisitions and dispositions of interests in asset management firms and financial institutions, including structuring, negotiating and executing GP stakes and other minority and/or control investments in private equity and other asset managers.
Miner’s clients have included Lovell Minnick, Industry Ventures, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, LLR Partners, Warner Pacific Insurance Services, Newport Specialty Partners, APCO Holdings, Scientific Games and Suede (formerly Merchant Industry). Representative matters include representing Industry Ventures in its minority GP stake investment from Petershill and subsequent sale to Goldman Sachs for up to $965 million; HPS Investment Partners in its minority GP stake investment from Blue Owl Capital; and Lovell Minnick in the formation of Newport Specialty Partners and its growth investment in Complex Coverage, Inc.
As the eighth private equity partner to join Paul Hastings in the past eight months in New York, Boston and London, Miner arrives on the heels of several strategic additions across the globe, further strengthening the firm’s leading private equity platform and reinforcing its status as a destination for PE talent. Recent arrivals supporting private equity clients include a four-partner powerhouse private equity and real estate team in London, elite investment funds lawyer Amanda Persaud in New York and private equity partner Ferish Patel, also in London, as well as partners Anthony Cahill in New York, Jim Curley in Boston and Christopher Zochowski and Bradley Noojin in Washington, D.C.
Miner joins more than 25 premier partners added to the firm’s global private equity and M&A platform over the past two years and continues the strong momentum in its East Coast offices. Fueled by this strategic growth, the firm’s Chambers-ranked PE practice advanced 25 spots year over year in Bloomberg’s Q1 2026 league tables for U.S. private equity by volume and ranked in the top 15 by deal count for The Deal’s PE announced deals in 2025.
