Paul Hastings Wins Total Victory in DOJ Dismissal of Criminal Embezzlement Indictment for Former Silicon Valley Startup CFO
June 02, 2025
Paul Hastings LLP secured a total defense victory for Aubrey Jackson Shelton II, the former CFO at Silicon Valley startup RepairPal, when the Department of Justice dismissed its 12-count indictment alleging that he embezzled millions of dollars from his former employer.
Investigations and White Collar Defense partner Adam Fee led the Paul Hastings team, which also included partner Susan Leader, of counsel Ali Rabbani and associates Meaza Abraham, Blanca Andrei, Sara Bricker and Ben Nicholson.
The team was named “runner-up” in The American Lawyer’s “Litigator of the Week” recognitions on two separate occasions for this case: in March when U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in San Francisco declared a mistrial after a jury deadlocked on all 12 counts and again in May when the DOJ dismissed the case.
