A Unique Latin America Practice

Our team of leading lawyers has advised on some of the largest, most complex, and “first-ever” transactions throughout the region, as well as playing critical roles in a number of major investigations. Drawing on our deep knowledge, we help clients anticipate what’s next and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Our diverse practice spans the region, with a special focus on Brazil and Mexico—the two largest economies in the area and two of the five largest emerging economies in the world.

A Tradition of Leadership through Innovation

  • Our lawyers are recognized leaders in capital markets and M&A throughout Latin America, and have represented more Mexican issuers of securities and handled more Mexican IPOs than any other team in recent years.
  • We created a new asset class, the FIBRA, a REIT-like structure that marked an important evolution for the Mexican economy. Our team also created the mortgage FIBRA, which has revitalized the residential real estate market in Mexico.
  • Our leading Latin America-focused Infrastructure and Energy team has advised on some of the most significant and innovative deals in the region.
  • We structured the first DIP financing in Mexico, giving companies the first viable alternative to liquidation.
  • Our lawyers have advised clients on innovative telecoms deals that take advantage of reforms in Mexico—and we are exploring ways to help clients do the same in the energy industry.
  • Our team has played leading roles in several major investigations in Brazil over the past year.
  • We draw upon our interdisciplinary team of lawyers to advise clients on complex and high-profile restructurings, workout and bankruptcy planning, company and royalty acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments in public and private acquisitions.
