Paul Hastings Bolsters Premier Global Fund Finance Platform With London Hire
October 26, 2026
London – Continuing the growth of its elite global fund finance platform, Paul Hastings today announces the addition of Maccailein (Mac) Campbell as a partner in London.
Recognized by Chambers UK for Banking and Finance: Fund Finance, Campbell has more than 15 years of experience acting for borrowers, sponsors and lenders, including bank and nonbank lenders. He counsels on a broad range of domestic and cross-border debt finance transactions, focusing on fund finance. He also advises on acquisition finance, project finance, warehouse and portfolio finance, hybrid credit, general corporate lending, restructuring and other bespoke financings.
“We have enjoyed significant growth in our global fund finance platform this year and are further deepening our fund finance capabilities and broader finance offering with the addition of Mac, along with other recent strategic London hires,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “Demand across the fund finance market continues to grow rapidly, with the market estimated to approach $2.5 trillion by 2030. Our intentional strategy in London has established a leading fund finance practice that complements our premier U.S. team, positioning us to gain additional market share with our asset manager and bank clients in a growing area of the global market.”
Following the recent arrivals of fund finance partners Leon Stephenson and Daniel Margolis, Campbell’s addition demonstrates Paul Hastings’ commitment to building a powerhouse in the fund finance space. This growth is part of the firm’s ongoing expansion of its global fund finance platform, including the launch of the firm’s Charlotte office earlier this year. The Charlotte office brought preeminent fund finance teams from Cadwalader, Haynes Boone and Mayer Brown to join forces with Paul Hastings’ existing team, led by Eric Schwitzer. The firm also added partner Jennifer Passagne in London.
Campbell’s recent representations include advising Astorg on a GP solutions financing provided by a mix of bank and nonbank lenders, Bute Energy on a £160 million debt financing arrangement with Lloyds Bank and Rabo Bank, and Helios Investment Partners on a sustainability-linked credit facility.
“Paul Hastings’ number one position in global finance, combined with its clear commitment to building a premier fund finance platform, makes this an incredibly exciting move,” said Campbell. “The firm has exceptional momentum, and its strength across finance, funds, M&A and the wider sponsor and asset manager ecosystem provides a powerful platform for clients.”
In the first half of 2026, Paul Hastings’ Chambers Band 1-ranked Global Finance practice was top-ranked across six Bloomberg lead lenders’ counsel league tables, including three No.1 spots. In 2025, the practice scored 15 No. 1 year-end rankings and more than 30 top-five rankings from the leading league tables. The group closed more than 500 debt financing and preferred equity transactions, totaling over $260 billion in aggregate financing.
The addition of Campbell, Stephenson, Margolis and Passagne to Paul Hastings’ global fund finance platform continues a period of robust expansion in London. The office strengthened its PE and M&A platform with the arrivals of Ferish Patel from Cooley and Mark Zerdin from Slaughters, as well as with new partners across a range of other practices: Bevis Metcalfe and Kieran Sharma (Financial Restructuring); Brad Weyland and Roberto Bruno (High Yield); a team led by Lyndsey Laverack and Jade Williams-Adedeji (Private Equity and Real Estate); Jenny Doak, Alicia Osei and Catherine Richardson (Tax); Sally Evans (Antitrust); Thomas Picton (Structured Credit); David Richardson (Investment Funds); Chloe Kite (Intellectual Property); and Stephen Diosi (Employee Benefits & Incentives).
