The Globalization of Antitrust: Competition Law in 2014
Paul Hastings and UBIC present an intellectual property and antitrust seminar led by Robert Masters, Partner and Global Vice-Chair of Intellectual Property, and Andreas Stargard, Partner in the Antitrust and International Competition practice.
Over the past several months, the United States Supreme Court has taken an unprecedented interest in intellectual property law. The impact of these Supreme Court cases as well as additional upcoming Federal Circuit decisions has the potential to change the landscape of U.S. intellectual property law. Mr. Masters will review significant developments in the area of intellectual property in 2013 with a specific focus on what court cases to watch in 2014. The focus will take a look at significant Supreme Court and Federal Circuit cases pending and which cases to watch as each presents an important intellectual property issue for decision. In addition, Mr. Masters will highlight some of the developing market trends and key legislation in intellectual property, and answer any questions you may have.
Mr. Stargard will discuss the exponential growth of antitrust regimes worldwide, and explain the impact of this development on Japanese businesses that operate internationally. Mr. Stargard will highlight the latest developments in competition law in the EU, U.S. and globally, including a preview of what to watch in 2014 and beyond. Topics covered are M&A clearance, cartels and information exchanges, unilateral conduct, and corporate compliance programmes.
