Get Ready for the California Consumer Privacy Act

Wednesday, April 03, 2019 - Thursday, April 04, 2019

12:00 AM BST - 12:00 AM BST

Teleconference

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) formally takes effect next January 1, 2020, but prudent companies are already preparing for the law, which will have a dramatic effect on how businesses collect, maintain and use personal data, including data being collected today. In particular, employers will have to address the CCPA’s regulation of personnel data, which may mark a sea-change in employer practices. Adding to the complexity, the law may be amended sometime before its effective date, and so its final parameters remain unclear.

In this, the first in a series of teleconferences on the California Consumer Privacy Act, we will discuss:

  • How the CCPA is applicable to your business

  • What new obligations the CCPA imposes on employers

  • Consumer and employee rights under the CCPA

  • CCPA potential enforcements and civil actions

  • CCPA timelines and implementation
