The Recorder presents an Employment Law Roundtable: Hiring, Firing and Managing in Uncertain Times

Thursday, October 01 04:00 AM BST to 04:00 AM BST

This year has produced legal decisions and pending legislation that may leave HR managers dazed and confused. Whether the coming months bring new hires or more layoffs, HR managers need clear direction from their attorneys.

On September 30, The Recorder will assemble a panel of seasoned labor and employment attorneys from some of Americas top law firms and corporate legal departments.  The panel will explore the U.S. Supreme Courts Ricci decision on reverse discrimination and the California Supreme Courts Hillsides workplace privacy ruling; discuss the treatment of whistleblowers and others who may be inclined to file retaliation claims; offer strategies for jury selection; and discuss the pending Fair Pay and Paycheck Fairness Acts.

The panel will be moderated by The Recorders editor-in-chief, Scott Graham, and is designed for private practice attorneys, in-house counsel, and HR executives.  30 minutes will be set aside for audience Q & A.

The panel includes Paul W. Cane, Jr., a partner in Paul Hastings Employment Law department who specializes in appeals and 'disaster mitigation' matters; complex-issue analysis; predispute arbitration agreements; retaliation and whistleblowing matters.
