Immigration News: H-1B Cap Hit

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") has indicated that approximately 163,000 cap-subject H-1B petitions were received during the filing period ending on April 7, 2008. The USCIS announcement may be found at www.uscis.gov.

Approximately 31,200 of these cases are eligible for the H-1B advanced degree cap (20,000 additional numbers). Under procedures established by USCIS, a computer-generated random selection process will be held to determine eligibility based on filings received through April 7, 2008. USCIS indicated that the computer-generated random selection process may take place as early as this week.
