Litigators Score Multi-Patent Victory for Quanta Computer, Inc.

Los Angeles, CA (July 31, 2008) Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that it secured a multi-patent victory for Quanta Computer, Inc. against LG Electronics, Inc. when it obtained summary judgment in litigation involving four patents related to DVD drive technology for notebook computers.

Based on arguments by Paul Hastings, Judge Barbara B. Crabb of the United States District Court, Western District of Wisconsin held one LGE patent to be invalid and another to be unenforceable. Two additional patents were found to be not infringed. This is the second victory for Paul Hastings in on-going litigation between Quanta and LGE the first case resulted in the 9-0 decision for Quanta from the United States Supreme Court in June, 2008. The decision also marks the second victory for Paul Hastings in the last 12 months on the increasingly popular docket of the Western District Court of Wisconsin.
